Stone Bridge on Moravica

One of the special interests of every visitor coming to Ivanjica is the stone bridge on Javor – Dragacevo road. This is the biggest single arch bridge in Balkans , built on the principle of wedges, without binding materials used. The bridge, made of big stone blocks, was built by italian masters during 1904.-1906., together with Mr Blagoje Lukovic, local construction entrepreneur. The Stone Bridge is still in function for car traffic and pedestrians. However, for preservation purposes, the city government of Ivanjica agreed on the ban on heavy trafic pass across the bridge, planning to turn it completely into pedestrian zone in the years to come.

The stone bridge is the largest single-arch bridge in the Balkans, built on the principle of wedges, without binding material, from hewn stone from the Maidan in Raščići. The length of the arch that connects the two banks of Moravica is 24 meters and is considered the longest single-arched stone bridge with an independent level in the Balkans.
